I’m feel like I’m constantly in a battle! You too? I’m parenting teens and young adults; leading an organization; working through ever-changing government restrictions; the laundry keeps piling up; we got a new puppy (maybe I should take her out really quickly so she doesn’t have another accident); then there’s also an internal battle with anxiety and fear and uncertainty. Can you relate now? I bet you’ve got your own battles that you encounter throughout your days and weeks.
God has been so good (as He always is) to point out scripture that speaks directly to my struggles. Just this morning I was reading in Ephesians 6 about the armor of God. Paul says “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of HIS might.” (v10) Then goes on to say that we’re fighting a battle out in the heavenly realm against “cosmic powers of darkness” and “spiritual forces of evil”. Yikes! That’s what all these earthly battles really stem from isn’t it? There is a cosmic battle happening in the heavenly realms and it manifests itself here on earth in arguments, in overwhelm, in divisiveness, in hurt feelings, in pain. But Paul gives us the way forward in (v13) “Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”
I was reminded of 2 things:
- My strength will never be enough. I can rest of the strength of His might.
- I will be able to stand firm as I keep my heart and eyes focused on Him.
As you face your battles this week, I hope this encourages you. Phil Wickham released a new song last week that has been encouraging to me as well! I linked the lyric video from YouTube here. If you have a moment, listen.
