But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
Some days it is pretty easy to trust that God’s got it. Other days…well, let’s just say it can be a little bit more challenging. I know the year ahead looks a little like a drought. Our enrollment might be lower than what we had planned. We might have some new expenses that we hadn’t really planned on. Our families are experiencing difficulties that they haven’t before. Many parts of our lives seem uncertain. It definitely feels like a drought.
Scripture is very clear, though. When we trust God, He takes care of us. We do not need to fear even when we feel parched and dry. Our soul (our roots) is stretching out toward the LIVING WATER (John 4:10) and we have His assurance that we will bear fruit even in a year of drought! Will you maintain your “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength” of the Lord? That’s how dictionary.com defines “trust”.
