Dr. Jean Feldman – Thursday,  July 13

Dr. Jean’s noteworthy educational career has spanned more than 40 years. She has served as a classroom teacher, instructor of adults, author, and consultant. Dr. Jean is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Kindergarten Alliance, and the International Reading Association. Dr. Jean’s degrees include a B.A. from the University of Georgia, a D.A.S.T. from Emory University, and both a M.A. and Ph.D from Georgia State University. She inspires teachers across the county with her engaging songs and creative activities that make teaching and learning FUN!

Christy Isbell

Christy Isbell, PhD OTR/L – Friday,  July 14

Dr. Isbell is a pediatric occupational therapist with more than 20 years of experience working with young children. She is a professor at Milligan College where she teachers graduate level child development and pediatric occupational therapy courses. Dr. Isbell maintains a private practice with a specialty in the treatment of young children with autism and sensory processing disorder. She has authored 5 books, including the award-winning Sensory Integration: A Guide for Preschool Teachers.

Tammy Whitehurst – Friday, July 14

Tammy is described as authentic, passionate, funny and real. She is the founder of Joy for the Journey Women’s Ministry. After teaching 7th grade for 16 years, God placed a desire in her heart to teach women. Tammy graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She has been published in Christianity Today, Lifeway’s Home Life, Women’s World, Evangel, Just Between Us, Mature Years, and several other publications. She is co-owner of The Christian Communicator’s Conference held at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina.

Shirley Raines

Dr. Shirley Raines – Saturday, July 15

Dr. Raines served as president of the University of Memphis and was the first woman to hold that position. She is now president emerita and spends her time speaking, consulting, training, and writing. Previously she was the vice chancellor for academic services and dean of the College of Education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She is a former classroom teacher, Head Start director, and childcare-center director. Raines holds a doctorate in education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she also earned her MS degree. Raines has served on the faculty or administration of universities in Florida, Virginia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Alabama.

Marilyn Bitsis

Marilyn is Master Registered Trainer #1068. She holds a B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi and is the co-author of Sensational Beginnings: Sensory and Motor Activities for Infants and Toddlers. Marilyn has been a gymnastics and motor skills teacher and now serves as the Project Development/Presenter for KIdBuilders Motor Skills Program.

Beth Cannon

Beth is an international presenter and trainer in fitness and nutrition education for children and childcare providers and has been the owner and program director of Stretch-n-Grow in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for 15 years. She is the appointed Chairwoman of the Champion Child Advisory Board, author and developer of the Youth Fitness Instructor Certification Program and the Director of Corporate Training for Stretch-n-Grow International. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is certified by the state of Texas as a classroom teacher. Prior to her career in the private sector, she taught in the Arlington ISD for five years. In addition, Beth is co-Director of Women’s Ministries at her church.

Stephanie Chase

Stephanie is a sought after speaker and conference leader. Stephanie’s experience with kids began as a weekday classroom teacher in Tyler, Texas. She has been an early childhood center director and trainer and now serves as the Kids Minister at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Stephanie also is the author of the TBCWEA curriculum School Age Fun. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a Masters in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Elaine Clark

Elaine serves as the Preschool Minister at First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas where she supervises the Weekday Preschool and Mother’s Day Out programs. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from WTAMU.

Sally Condra

Sally has been the Director of Tarrytown Children’s Center in Austin, Texas since 1996 and holds certifications as a public school teacher and principal. Jenice Dames

Jenice oversees the Special Education programing for elementary schools in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio. Prior to her current position, she served as a Pre-School Educational Specialist at the Education Service Center, Region 20. Jenice also has been a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she taught Special Education and Early Childhood courses. She holds a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Mat Dusza

Mat was born and raised in Toowoomba, Australia where he received a Diploma in Early Childhood Studies. He began his career as a Preschool Teacher for the Lady Growrie Child Care Centers in Brisbane, Australia. Mat moved to Texas in 2002 and has been a Program Coordinator, Assistant Director and a Director of Child Care Programs. Currently, he is an administrator and teacher/trainer at a center in Plano, Texas, and serves an instructor for Green Space Learning & Development.

Sarah Farris

Sarah currently owns and runs a ranch, raising grass-fed and sustainable meats. For a decade she owned a small urban farm where she managed and taught farm classes for preschoolers and elementary age children. Sarah has been active to advance the community’s connection to their source of food by presenting various nutrition classes, helping start a local farmer’s market, and organizing large farm events. She has experience with various ages in the preschool classroom at First Baptist Lewisville Child Development Center. She holds a bachelor degree in dietetics from Texas Women’s University.

Mike Garcia

Mike is the owner of Tejas Environmental, Healthy, and Safety in Round Rock Texas. He has 19 years experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering field and has conducted safety and security training for for all types of professions. Mike is a Licensed Professional Engineer, a Certified Safety Professional, a former firefighter, a CPR and First Aid Instructor, and maintains a medics certification.

Tara Garvey

Tara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from St. Edward’s University in 2014. While attending St. Edward’s, Tara traveled to both Spain and Chile to study Spanish language and culture, as well as volunteer at a school for young girls. Tara also completed an internship with Communities in Schools where she helped run an after-school program for youth living in public housing. Upon graduation, Tara traveled to Brisbane, Australia to gain work experience at a non-profit agency serving homeless youth. Tara began working with Center for Child Protection in 2016 where she is responsible for coordinating and conducting educational programs for professionals and parents and maintaining relationships with schools and child care centers.

Michele Gooch

Michele has over 20 years of experience of all facets of leadership development and personal growth. She is a certified life coach specializing in coaching teams to understand their unique design. Michele has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Howard Payne University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Seminary and is founder of Life by Design.

Kara Gore

Kara is the Director of the Saint Mark Lutheran Preschool in Lake Jackson, Texas and also serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Brazosport College. She also operates Lifeboat Child Care Training and Consulting. Kara has worked for DFPS in the Child Care Licensing Division where she trained and mentored new employees. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston.

Paula Hatley

Paula has 25 years experience in Weekday Education Ministry. She has served as a teacher, Resource Room Coordinator, and Director. Collette Hull

Linda is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Education. She also studied early childhood education at San Diego State University. She was a Child Care Administrator and owner of several childcare centers in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she also opened a childcare program for children with special needs. Linda’s passion for helping single parents and their children lead her to create and develop the curriculum DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K). She now serves as the Ambassador and Blogger for DC4K, writes articles for numerous magazines, and has authored the book Attract Families to Your Church and Keep Them Coming.

Shelly is Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Ministry and Program Director for Children and Family at Dallas Baptist University. Kristin Omo

Kristin is a Professional Trainer and Child Development Specialist with Champions for Children in Tyler, Texas where she assesses children for behavior and learning challenges, develops intervention plans, and lectures in their training programs. She is also a Licensed Brain Gym Instructor/Consultant as well as a Licensed Nurturing Pathways Instructor. Melissa Ply

Melissa Ply is a Program Manager for the Children’s Learning Institute and works with the Texas School Ready program. She has experience as a Mom, teacher, family home day care provider, Training and Curriculum Specialist, and as a CDC Director with the US Air Force. She is currently the Secretary for TAEYC, was published in the Nov. 2015 issue of “Early Years”, and was awarded the 2015 Trainer of the Year Award from Austin AEYC. Melissa earned a B. S. in Elementary Education and a B. S. in Special Education from Northern Arizona University and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Oklahoma.

Claire Pulfer

Claire is the Administrative Assistant at Wilshire Baptist Church’s ECLC she is responsible for enrollment, waiting lists, student files and tuition payments, among her many other responsibilities in the ECLC program.  Claire taught Pre-K for 2 years prior to accepting the administrative position.  With over 16 years of experience in various fields including Finance, Property and Accounting, she was a natural to fill the Administrative position.  Originally from England, Claire has lived and worked in London and Singapore and has been in Dallas for 13 years.  Claire is passionate about the importance of her role and has modernized and advanced the office procedures of Wilshire’s ECLC program.

Audrey Rowland

Audrey has over 15 years of experience as an early childhood professional.  Audrey is grounded in theory and practice that emphasizes developmentally appropriate practice and high-quality early education. She is an engaging speaker and trainer, translating information into application and inspiring teachers and professionals.  Audrey earned a MS from the University of North Texas in Child Development and Family Studies and a MBA from Texas Woman’s University.

Margaret Schaeffer

Margaret is a Master Professional Trainer in the Texas Early Care and Education Career Development System. She holds a BA from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Eric Strickland

Eric has served as a Head Start teacher, early childhood center director, university lab school head teacher and a university professor during his 22-year teaching career. He has been the owner of a childcare center and worked with several national childcare chains to help them improve their playgrounds. In addition, he founded Grounds for Play, a full-service playground development company. He has authored numerous articles and served as a columnist and feature author for Early Years magazine. Dr. Strickland currently provides playground consulting, certified inspections, and staff development sessions.

Alan Small

Alan is the Curriculum Coordinator and Program Manager for after school Science Clubs and Special Programs Consultant for Worth Learning, Inc. He is also a Professional Development Presenter for Camp Fire First Texas. Alan also has been an elementary school science teacher in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD. He holds a Bachelor of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas.

Paula B. Tinker

Paula is the Early Childhood Coordinator and Early Childhood Facilitator and a Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teacher in the Everman ISD. In her role as Early Childhood Coordinator, Paula is the liaison between the school district and local day care centers. Paula received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and her Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

With more than 30 years experience in early childhood, Jerri brings practical knowledge into all of her trainings. Jaime Warren

Jaime is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Bridgemark Center for Learning in Tyler, Texas. Prior to founding Bridgemark Center, Jaime was the Director of Learning Enrichment Center and Assistant Head of the Lower School at All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler. She is a Certified Elementary Teacher, a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist, and a Certified Academic Language Therapist with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Baylor University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with Multisensory Specialization from Dallas Baptist University.
